Was in Langley for some business and I stopped by The Keg Steakhouse & Bar on 202 Street in the Walnut Grove area. It was around 4:30 and fortunately they were open, as the signs at the door indicated they opened at 4:00 daily.
I went with the Lobster & Shrimp Salad from their Dinner Salads menu, which seemed like a good choice. According to the menu, this particular salad consisted of artisan greens, black beans, charred corn, mushrooms, tomatoes, and avocado, with mango sesame dressing and topped with pine nuts. It was, as you’d expect, rather pricey, though, at C$21.
Lobster & Shrimp Salad – C$21.00
Overall, the service at this location was friendly. The server seemed a bit tentative, but maybe he was new. Who knows. Friendly, though. As for the entertainment (I sat in the lounge), there was a flatscreen to my left showing the Brazil-South Korea women’s soccer game, and another one in a distance showing the Marlins-Blue Jays baseball game. Wasn’t interested in either one but those were the only things going on during that early hour.
The salad was okay. Nothing really to write home about. I suppose there were enough pieces of lobster and shrimp. This salad was okay but just didn’t wow me. There was no “wow” factor whatsoever.
I had a meeting in the area just after 5:00, so I didn’t stick around for dessert. I left a generous tip, though. The bill came to C$25.20 including taxes—I’d also ordered a Coke, but I barely touched it—and I gave them C$30, a 19% tip.
