22’s Grill (Burnaby Winter Club)

22’s Grill is a cafeteria/snack bar located on the main level of the Burnaby Winter Club on Canada Way, which is the home of the major midget hockey team, the Vancouver NW Giants. On Wednesday, October 15th, I was at the BWC to speak with the Giants’ coach and captain after their team practice, and stopped by 22’s Grill for a burger in the meantime.

I ordered a Beef Burger, which comes with either fries, Greek salad, or Caesar salad. I picked the Greek Salad.

Obviously, this was better than McDonald’s food and slightly worse than a pub burger. Overall, I liked both the burger and the salad.

With 22’s Grill, you’re probably not going to stop by here just for food; you’re likely only going to buy something here if you’ve dropped off your kids for hockey practice or ice skating. Or, of course, if you want to grab a quick bite for your kids. There’s a lounge area here for parents to hang out and watch their kids on the ice, as the seating area overlooks the two sheets of ice surfaces. Otherwise, you’re not likely to even be at the Burnaby Winter Club because it’s kind of in the middle of nowhere.

Anyway, I didn’t really make a special trip to 22’s Grill just for the food. It was just there in the Burnaby Winter Club, where I only wanted to catch up with the Giants major midget hockey club. At the time, the team was 8-0-0 after eight games. Following their team practice, I spoke with captain Keegan Jones and head coach Clint Thornton:

Thanks, Keegan and Clint, for taking the time to speak with me!
