The Regal Beagle Bar & Grill (Kitsilano)

Was at The Regal Beagle Bar & Grill in Kitsilano one Tuesday evening back in mid-October. Tuesdays are their cheap wings day, where they are only 39 cents each. There are tons of flatscreen monitors in this pub, so it’s a sports fan’s heaven!

On this night there was a Colorado-Toronto hockey game on, and a couple of guys wearing Leafs jerseys and a few other Toronto supporters were sitting at the bar having some beers, so it was a little loud for sure!

I ordered their Crispy Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings and Spicy Tempura Prawns, as well as a beverage. It was a bit busy on this evening and I thought the service was pretty slow. The server was friendly, though.

I liked the prawns; they came with cucumber carrot slaw and were very tasty. Oh yeah, and black sesame too. Something tells me that Sriracha Thai hot sauce is used in this dish too (the bill that came later read “Sriracha Prawns.”) Overall, the prawns tasted good. As for the wings…well, nothing special about them. They were also pretty small, in my opinion. However, they threw in about 12 or 13 – instead of the 10 that I ordered – so I guess that was okay. Still thought that the wings were very ordinary, though.

I thought about getting 10 more wings of a different flavour after I was done with those two dishes, but I noticed more people were coming in, and the service was slow to begin with…. So, I simply asked for the bill and called it a night. Though the wings were ordinary, The Regal Beagle still seems like a great place to catch a ballgame. Great atmosphere for that. This was actually my second visit; I’d been here once before about three years earlier for a networking event.
